One 14-year-old youth was found dead just days after being falsely accused of taking the cremated remains of a deceased infant during a break-in, a coroner's inquiry has learned.

Tragic Discovery

Kai Lloyd's mother and father found his remains in his bedroom at his Connah's Quay residence on November 19th, 2021.

False Accusations Start

The investigation learned how his parent got a communication on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a individual inquiring if Kai was her offspring. The message stated: "Tell him appreciation for breaking into my apartment."

In a statement read to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the individual had been in the news, asserting her baby's remains had been taken in a break-in - a claim which was untrue.

Law Enforcement Investigation

An investigation report from authorities later concluded the alleged break-in complainant had "provided false information" and "evidence shows that the items was never taken in the first place".

Media reports about the supposed taken remains generated online comments, and although the teenager was not named in the posts, his mother said individuals "understood it was him".

The "online posts were extremely upsetting", she stated.

Mental Wellbeing Impact

She added that Kai had been identified with mild ADHD, and as part of that condition, other individuals' views genuinely were important to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she said, "especially when this was untrue".

Kai was detained at home, but nothing was discovered. He was taken to a police station and later freed under investigation.

Authorities said they would be in contact, the inquest learned, but had not contacted the family by the moment of his passing.

Withdrawal and Worry

His mother said Kai "became isolated" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his ADHD meant sometimes "a minute could seem like much longer".

When she talked to him about the alleged incident, she said her child informed her he had entered the residence because the resident who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet anytime he needed, but refuted taking anything.

Online Bullying

In a joint statement between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her son was being bullied digitally after the accusations.

The inquest heard that a 19-year-old urged Kai to end his life.

She had no worries on the evening before he passed away, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and joking".

She portrayed him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "family is completely devastated".

He had been "obviously concealing his worries", she said, adding that he could not bear to have anybody "have negative thoughts of him".

School Reaction

The hearing received testimony from educational personnel at Connah's Quay secondary school.

On November 8th, she "heard some boys discussing that Kai had been arrested and that was the first I learned".

"He told me... he'd done nothing wrong," she added.

After the conversation, the staff member said she rang Kai's parents' telephone and provided a voicemail saying she had communicated to the student about the allegations.

The proceedings learned his parents said they never got that message.

Formal Conclusion

Senior coroner told the hearing he would wait for reports regarding what enhancements had been made to dealing with individuals with ADHD, before deciding whether he should make a avoidance of future fatalities report.

Providing a narrative conclusion, he stated: "Around 8 November 2021, unsupported accusations were made against the teenager, a 14-year-old individual.

"Probably falsehoods were subsequently embellished and amplified through the medium of online networks.

"During 11 November, he was interviewed by the authorities and after his interview he was freed whilst investigations continued."

The coroner determined: "There is no proof that the acts or failures of any organization led to or contributed to his passing and although it was the outcome of a personal act it is impossible to discern his intent."
