Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles
Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
The company has three new games publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
